I wrangle words and stories (my own and other people’s) for print and digital media. I’m currently Editor of the Destinations travel series. Published bi-annually in English with partial Chinese translation, Destinations can be found in hotels, cafes and airport lounges in Australia, Asia and the United States.
I’ve written on a range of topics for publications including ABC Dig Music, Artisan Magazine, Australian Triathlete, Eureka Street, Recovery magazine and Period Home Renovator. I’ve been a reader and proofreader at Penguin Books, a manuscript assessor for Writers Victoria and a copywriter for a sports apparel company. Once upon a time in another life, I Was A Teenage Book Reviewer on ABC TV’s Saturday morning show Recovery, an airport chauffeur, and the indentured servant of an eccentric travel writer.
I co-founded Living Between Cultures, a creative writing project which gives young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds the chance to tell their stories in their own words with the help of industry mentors. I edited a collection of stories produced during the project which was launched at The Wheeler Centre by Alice Pung.
When it comes to writing – my own or other people’s – my passion is creative nonfiction and I worship at the altars of Cheryl Strayed, Helen Garner, Dave Eggers, Alice Pung and Anna Funder. I love true stories told by poets.
